Potelet® crowd control posts are designed to be durable, modular and easy to repair. One of their major advantages is the ability to replace the strap reel housing without having to change the entire post. This operation is simple, quick and allows you to extend the life of the equipment whilst controlling costs.
Why replace the reel housing?
1. Logo update or customisation
When there is a change in visual identity, an event or specific communication, it is often necessary to modify the strap. Replacing the housing allows you to integrate a printed or customised strap without replacing the complete post.
2. Repair of a damaged housing
Over time or with intensive use, a spring can weaken, a mechanism can jam or a housing can be damaged. Replacement allows the post to be put back into service immediately, at a lower cost.
3. Change of colour, strap length or message
Need a longer strap, a different colour or a specific message (safety, direction, restricted area, etc.): replacing the housing is the simplest solution.
4. Installation standardisation
In environments where different models coexist, replacing the housings allows you to standardise strap lengths, colours and mechanisms.
How to replace the reel housing?

The illustration provided shows the general principle. Depending on the Potelet® model, the procedure varies slightly, but the logic remains similar.
Step 1: Remove the old housing
The housing is held in place by a side screw, simply unscrew it to remove it.
Step 2: Install the new housing
The new housing inserts into the internal guides of the tube. Positioning is automatic and requires no special adjustment.
Estimated total time: 1 minute.
The advantages of replacing the housing rather than the complete post
Cost reduction
The housing represents a fraction of the price of a complete post, making it the most economical solution.
Extended service life
The mechanical part is replaced, but the tube and base remain in very good condition. This significantly increases the useful life of the equipment.
Reduced environmental impact
Replacing only the worn part avoids having to manufacture and transport a complete post.
Flexibility
Ability to adapt the post to new requirements:
- customised strap,
- different colour,
- compliance update or message update.
Quick and simple maintenance
The operation is accessible to any staff member, without any particular technical training.
