Wall mounted retractable belt barrier 3m, black stainless steel housing BASIC

The 3m wall mounted retractable belt barrier: the right length for a doorway, a landing or a counter

Three metres is the width of a double door, a lift landing, an office corridor or the gap between two counters. This wall mounted retractable belt barrier from the BASIC range was sized for exactly those openings: the 50 mm belt pulls out over the distance you need, tensions cleanly and slides back into its housing the moment the end clip is released. Fixed to the wall, it takes up no floor space and stays put even when the passage is reopened, ready to be used again a minute later.

It is the model to choose when the same access has to be closed and released several times a day: shutting an aisle during restocking, holding visitors in front of a desk, marking a staff-only passage behind a reception, controlling entry to a changing room between two sessions. The gesture is the same as with a classic belt post, minus the post.

Why 3m rather than a longer belt

A retractable belt works best when it is extended close to its working length: tension stays even, the belt does not sag and the return remains gentle. Across an opening of 2.5 to 3m, the 3m format gives a crisp barrier with no idle belt left in the housing. For wider halls and long queues, the 3.7m wall mounted strap dispenser from the same range takes over; below that, the 3m version offers the best balance of reach, compactness and responsiveness.

A black powder-coated stainless steel housing that disappears on any wall

The body of the unit is stainless steel finished with black powder coating. The dark finish fades into a white wall as easily as into timber cladding or a glass partition, and it shrugs off the rubbing of bags, trolleys and pushchairs without marking. The format stays compact: a small housing at hand height, four fixings, nothing protruding once the belt is retracted. It mounts either horizontally or vertically, so the belt can be tensioned exactly along the axis of the passage you want to close, including across a staircase.

Braked rewind: safety for users, long life for the mechanism

Inside, the spring is braked. When the end clip is released, the belt returns to its housing at a controlled speed instead of snapping back: no pinched fingers, no knock against the opposite wall, no twisted belt. The mechanism has been tested over 200,000 extension and return cycles, which corresponds to years of daily opening and closing. Should the belt or cassette ever tire, each is replaced on its own: the housing stays on the wall and only the affected part changes.

Thirteen belt colours, or your own printed message

The 50 mm polyester belt comes in thirteen standard shades: black, white, grey, red, orange, yellow, fluorescent yellow, green, blue, dark blue, burgundy, plus the yellow/black and red/white chevrons that signal a hazard or a no-entry without a single word. It can also be sublimation-printed with your logo, an instruction ("Staff only", "Please wait here") or your corporate colours: the artwork sits inside the fibre and withstands daily handling. The end clip cap is likewise available plain or marked with your name.

Belt end clips: standard, safety button, magnetic or anti-panic

The choice of end clip depends on the venue. The standard clip slots into any receiver; the safety-button clip only releases when a latch is pressed, which discourages accidental unhooking; the magnetic clip attaches to its plate in one movement; the anti-panic clip releases the belt under a firm push, the reflex expected on an evacuation route. Opposite, a wall receiver is all it takes to close the passage; a post from the range or the base of a shelving unit can serve as the anchor point just as well.

Where the 3m format earns its keep

Schools and nurseries, to close a corridor or a classroom door during an activity; gyms, pools and clubs, to control entry to the changing rooms; bank branches, insurers and public offices, to mark the waiting zone in front of a counter; coworking spaces and open-plan offices, to isolate a meeting room in use; local shops, to shut an aisle or a closed till. Wherever the passage measures about three metres and changes state several times a day, the 3m wall unit is a better answer than a post that gets moved and walked around.

Frequently asked questions

The belt extends to 3 metres in total, which covers a double door, a lift landing, an office corridor or the gap between two counters. For crisp tension and a gentle return, aim for a span slightly below the maximum length rather than pulling the belt to its stop. For wider openings the range offers wall units with 3.7m, 5m and more.
Housing, braked mechanism, end clips and colours are identical; only the belt length changes. The 3m version is cut for standard doorways and corridors and gives the firmest tension over those spans; the 3.7m model brings the reserve needed for a wider hall or a longer queue.
Yes. The housing fixes horizontally or vertically depending on the direction you want the belt to run. Mounted vertically at the top or bottom of a flight, it lets you tension the belt across the stairs and release it in one movement, with no post on the landing.
The standard clip suits most receptions and shops. The safety-button clip needs a press to unhook the belt, useful where children are around or where accidental unhooking is a problem. The magnetic clip attaches to its plate in one movement. The anti-panic clip releases the belt under a firm push and is reserved for evacuation routes. The choice is made in the product configurator.
Yes. Selecting the custom belt opens the online configurator: logo, text, background colour to RAL. Sublimation printing embeds the artwork in the polyester fibre. A proof is sent to you for approval before production.
Standard mounting uses the screws and wall plugs supplied. On a metal surface (cabinet door, steel partition, shelving), the neodymium magnet kit replaces drilling and lets you move the unit without leaving a mark.
That is exactly its ground: openings of about three metres that are closed and reopened several times a day. The braked rewind protects small fingers, the powder-coated stainless housing stands up to rubbing, and a chevron or printed belt keeps the instruction readable without supervision.
This 3m reference comes with a black housing, with the belt colour free to choose among thirteen shades. If you need a light or coloured housing, the BASIC range includes rotating 2.5m wall units in white, red or yellow, and the wall anchors complete the installation.
